BMV Reinstatement Fee Amnesty

Canton Municipal Court

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles in conjunction with the Canton Municipal Court is offering a BMV Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Program for individuals with eligible cases that will either eliminate/waive all pending BMV Reinstatement Fees

or provide Debt Reductions on pending Reinstatement Fees.

This program is open to anyone with pending OBMV License Reinstatement Fees except for those arising from OVI suspensions or those with reinstatement fees related to a CDL License.

In order to be eligible, an applicant must:

  1. Have completed all court‐ordered sanctions related to the eligible offense, other than the payment of the reinstatement fees.

  2. At least 18 months have expired since the end of the period of the suspension ordered by the court.

  3. Complete the OBMV Reinstatement Amnesty Form, form number BMV 2829 (click here to download)

In order to be eligible for Complete Amnesty and waiver of all eligible reinstatement fees, an individual shall submit a screenshot of the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services Benefits Self‐Service Portal that demonstrates: Current Status, Current Month, Next Review Date and Authorized representatives in the household.

Individuals unable to provide proof of indigence via the screenshot from the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services may apply for the Reinstatement Fee Reduction Program. The Reinstatement Fee Reduction Program provides significant relief from eligible Reinstatement Fees and requires an individual to pay as little as 10% of the total amount owed.
